Why Sendible wasn’t fully capitalizing on SEO

Sendible is a well-established name in the social media management space, offering a comprehensive platform for individuals, agencies, and businesses to streamline content scheduling, engagement, and analytics.

Despite having a strong product and a robust content library, Sendible wasn’t realizing its full SEO potential.

The core SEO challenges included:

Thousands of “low-hanging fruit” keywords sitting between positions 4-20 on Google — close to prime positions but needing an extra boost.

A bloated content library with outdated pages that weren’t driving traffic or contributing to rankings — creating inefficiencies in SEO performance.

No clear prioritization on backlink promotion. With so many TOFU (top-of-funnel) and MOFU (middle-of-funnel) content pages, Sendible needed a targeted approach to determine which ones would yield the highest traffic and business impact.

How we scaled Sendible’s organic growth

To drive measurable improvements, Sendible focused on three key areas:

1. Precision link building to boost “almost there” rankings

Sendible had high-quality content, but many of their best pages were stuck in lower search positions (4-20).

We deployed a targeted link-building strategy with a mix of:

  • Outreach (Niche Edit) Links – Securing editorial links in existing, authoritative content relevant to Sendible’s audience.
  • Guest Posts – Landing high-value placements on marketing, SaaS, and social media websites to reinforce topical authority.
  • Herd LinksLeveraging UGC platforms like Quora, Reddit, and other social forums to increase brand awareness and improve E-E-A-T signals.

Many companies think more backlinks = better SEO, but the truth is a little more nuanced than that:

Quality links and strategic content promotion make all the difference. By strategic I mean obsessing over the small details like:

The type of assets you focus on, the anchor text that you use to promote those assets. The qualification criteria you use to determine what a good link looks like and so on.

Did you know one true DR80 link is the same as 1,584 DR48 links?

Very few understand the full nuance of link building. And I don’t blame them. It’s hard and complicated, which is why we specialize in it so we can do it properly.

2. Streamlining content for maximum SEO impact

Sometimes, less is more.

Sendible had 768 organic pages indexed in Google when we started working with them. After they performed a full content audit and removed underperforming pages, they now have only 581 indexed pages — yet they’re driving far more traffic.

393 pages deleted or consolidated over two years.
Refreshed existing content to improve search intent and engagement.
Prioritized long-form, high-performing TOFU and MOFU content for link building.

Cutting unnecessary pages can actually boost SEO by concentrating link equity and preventing search engines from wasting crawl budget on low-value content.

3. Expanding keyword rankings (1,980 → 3,210 page 1 keywords)

Sendible had a strong base of ranking keywords but needed an extra push.

By building targeted backlinks and improving content depth, they saw:

62% growth in Page 1 keyword rankings
Greater visibility for TOFU and MOFU content, driving more top-funnel traffic
A stronger presence in competitive industry searches

As of Feb 2025, Sendible ranks for 3,210 keywords on Page 1 of Google, up from 1,980 when we first started.

Takeaways & practical tips

takeaways-practical-tips

A big takeaway from Sendible’s journey is that more content isn’t always better — better content is better.

Instead of constantly churning out new posts (though they still continued publishing new content), they refined and optimized what they already had. By strategically deleting or consolidating 393 pages, they concentrated their SEO power on high-performing content, proving that quality beats quantity every time.

Another key lesson?

Not all backlinks are created equal. It’s not just about getting links — it’s about directing them to the pages that will drive the biggest impact. We focused on the right TOFU and MOFU content, so Sendible didn’t just improve rankings, they unlocked meaningful traffic gains that led to bottom-line growth.

And finally, SEO takes time, but when done right, the results compound. Sendible didn’t see these results overnight. Their traffic more than doubled over three years, but it was the consistent investment in content creation, refinement and strategic backlinks that led to lasting gains.
